\n4. CAUTION: Keep wires from sharp edges in all steps. Use care when installing wire ties so wipers are allowed to flex \u2014don\u2019t pull ties or wires too tight!
\n5. CAUTION: The insulated heater wire that runs along the frame on heated frame versions can get VERY HOT \u2013 300 degrees or so! Turn off the heat and allow it to cool a bit before handling or severe burns could result!
\n6. CAUTION: blades are not a defroster; they work with your defroster. If the windshield is frozen, turn the heat on to the wiper blades and let them heat up before starting wiper blade action. Also turn on the inside defroster. Turn the wiper blade action \u201cON\u201d when you see water running down the blades on the outside.<\/p>\n
1. Mount illuminated on\/off switch in convenient dash or under-dash location.
\n2. Hook blue wire to GOOD ground.
\n3. Attach red wire to a switched circuit.
\nNOTE: A \u201cswitched\u201d circuit is one that is OFF when the ignition is OFF.
\nFor example, if your switch is lit with the ignition OFF, the attachment is wrong.
\n4. Turn wiper switch and ignition \u201cON\u201d.
\n5. Check that the switch light is \u201cON\u201d = system connected properly.
\nNOTE: Power will be supplied to the heater elements only when the switch light is \u201cON\u201d.
\n6. Run black wire from switch through firewall of vehicle.
\nNOTE: You have the option of running around the firewall.<\/p>\n
1. Remove existing wiper blade assemblies from wiper arms.
\nNOTE: Keep old adapters until blades are installed \u2013 they may be useful!<\/p>\n
1. Clean the windshield completely from oil, and wax before using heated windshield wipers.
\n2. If windshields and blades are not clean they may streak, smear or chatter \u2013 you will be dissatisfied.<\/p>\n
1. Mount heated wiper blade assembly using adapters supplied or adapters saved from previous wipers.
\n2. Run black wires down the wiper arms to base, leaving a small loop for arm action.
\n3. Allow wipers to flex \u2014DO NOT pull wires tight.
\n4. Secure wire to wiper arms with black plastic ties.
\n5. Run remaining wire under the hood.
\n6. Attach hook connectors to GOOD ground.
\n7. Hook wires to mating connectors.
\n8. Test wiper heat by turning \u201cON\u201d the engine and lighted toggle switch.
\nNOTE: Blades should feel warm to the touch in a few minutes.
\n9. Sing or hum \u201cI Can See Clearly Now\u201d by Johnny Nash.<\/p>\n
\u2022 If no heat in a few minutes, check fuses and connections.
\n\u2022 Make sure both grounds are GOOD.
\n\u2022 If you are operating in a high salt environment, it may be a good idea to silicone the ends of the wipers, preventing salt from getting inside the wiper and corroding the splice connectors inside the squeegee.
